Crying Eye Stained Glass Ornament
This sweet one-of-a-kind stained glass ornament was made by a Portland-based artist, Tamara Goldsmith.
This piece features tiny cut pieces soldered together using the Tiffany method. It includes a color-changing dichroic gem as the pupil, which changes from deep purple to light blue hues. Delicate wirework overlay is utilized to represent eyelashes. A single dangling briolette glass gem hangs from the corner of the eye. A short hook allows  for a variety of uses, on a Christmas tree, incorporated into an altar, hearth, or hanging in a sunny window as a car charm from your rear-view mirror. The gem will send sparkles through the air when placed in direct, bright light.
Measures about 3.5" wide and about 3" tall .
The solder lines on this piece have been given a black patina, and are waxed for a protective, shiny surface. 60/40 lead/tin solder was used and the border is lead came.
Lead is not dangerous to have in your home in an art-piece like this unless sanded, causing lead-dust to be airborne and inhaled or somehow ingested. However, it is always a good idea to wash your hands well after cleaning or handling the piece.
