Solder is comprised of 60% tin, 40% lead for all hanging items including plant-stakes, suncatchers, panels and propagation stations. Jewelry, desk-trays and boxes, cardholders, incense burners and other high-contact items are made with lead-free solder. Lead is not dangerous unless you are consuming it or breathing in air-born lead dust. Simply having a leaded glass window hanging in your home does not pose any health risks, however, it is still a good idea to wash your hands with arm water and soap after handling or cleaning the piece. A plant stake is comprised of a brass rod that sinks into the soil, thus the lead portion of the piece never comes into contact with your plant or soil. Even if it did come in contact, however, it will not pose any risk to the health of your plant or adversely contaminate the soil.
